Ginger-flavored liqueur is a sweetened spirit flavored with ginger. It can be found at specialty liquor stores.
Bourbon is an American corn-based whiskey while brandy is a liquor distilled from wine or other fermented fruit juice. Either works great in this recipe, so use your favorite!
Regular ice cubes are great for individual drinks but melt so quickly that they tend to water down large punch-sized drinks. Avoid watered-down punch by using large chunks of ice or, nesting the punch bowl or pitcher in a larger bowl of ice.
Cider is just pressed from fruit, most often apples. The fresh juice is called sweet cider; fermented juice is called hard cider. For this recipe, we used hard cider found in most liquor stores.
