These intensely flavored ground beef hoagies are astoundingly easy. Just add prepared sauces and a touch of chipotle chile.
lb lean (at least 80%) ground beef
cups barbecue sauce
cup teriyaki baste and glaze sauce
tablespoon finely chopped chipotle chiles in adobo sauce (from 7-oz can)
soft hoagie buns (6 to 7 inch), split
In 12-inch nonstick skillet or Dutch oven, brown ground beef over medium heat 8 to 10 minutes or until thoroughly cooked, stirring frequently. Drain well.
In 3 1/2- to 4-quart slow cooker, mix cooked ground beef and remaining ingredients except buns.
Cover; cook on Low heat setting 4 to 6 hours.
To serve, stir beef mixture. Spoon 1/2 cup beef mixture into each bun.
Chipotle chiles are dried smoked jalapeño chiles. Canned chipotles are packed in adobo sauce, a thick and spicy mixture of ground chilies, herbs and vinegar.
Refrigerate the remaining chipotle chiles to add zip to chili, stew, beans or eggs. For extended storage, spoon chiles into a quart-sized resealable freezer plastic bag.
