Salted Caramel Apple Push-It-Ups

A delightful autumn dessert made with Betty Crocker SuperMoist spice cake, fresh apples, caramels, sea salt and whipping cream. Layered in a push up pop, they're a lip-smacking, no-mess treat.

cups water
cup oil
cups chopped peeled apples (2 medium)
bag (14 oz) caramels, unwrapped
tablespoons whipping cream
teaspoon sea salt
push-up cake pop containers
container Betty Crocker™ Rich & Creamy cream cheese frosting
cup chopped peanuts, if desired

  • 1 Heat oven to 350°F. Spray 48 mini muffin cups with cooking spray.
  • 2 In large bowl, beat cake mix water, oil and eggs with electric mixer on low speed until moistened; beat 2 minutes on high speed. Stir in chopped apples. Divide batter evenly into muffin cups.
  • 3 Bake 10 to 12 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool completely, about 30 minutes.
  • 4 In 2-quart saucepan, heat caramels, whipping cream and salt over medium heat 3 to 4 minutes, stirring frequently, until melted.
  • 5 To assemble push-up cakes, drop 1 mini cupcake into each push-up pop container. Add 1 tablespoon melted caramels and 1 tablespoon frosting. Repeat layers. Sprinkle tops with chopped peanuts.

Expert Tips

If the caramel mixture starts to cool and stiffen while you’re building your push ups, place over medium-low heat to soften.

For a decorative top, place frosting in a decorating bag fitted with a large star tip.
