1
box Betty Crocker® SuperMoist® yellow cake mix
1
cup crunchy peanut butter
1/2
cup water
2
eggs
1
bag (8 oz) almond toffee bits or milk chocolate toffee bits (1 1/3 cups)
1
bag (12 oz) semisweet chocolate chips (2 cups)
  • 1 Heat oven to 350°F (325°F for dark or nonstick pan). Grease and lightly flour bottom and sides of 15x10x1-inch pan, or spray with cooking spray.
  • 2 In large bowl, mix cake mix, peanut butter, water and eggs with spoon. Stir in toffee bits. Spread evenly in pan.
  • 3 Bake 20 to 25 minutes or until golden brown. Immediately sprinkle chocolate chips over hot bars. Let stand about 5 minutes or until chips are melted; spread evenly. Cool completely, about 1 hour. For bars, cut into 10 rows by 6 rows. Store covered.

Expert Tips

Almond toffee bits can become rancid, so be sure to do a “taste-test” before adding them to your recipe. Store toffee bits in the freezer to prevent this.

Nobody liked these. Pretty much a waste of some good ingredients. Also, the melted chocolate chip "frosting" breaks off and falls everywhere when you try to bite into the bar. Will not make these again.

I made these for Thanksgiving at both my mother's and my mother-in-law's. They were a huge hit! My picky eating brother-in-law took what was left over home with him! I am looking at adding a little more toffee bits next time, and maybe trying milk chocolate chips instead of semisweet. Going to a Bake And Take party this weekend and I have decided this is what I will make! Can't wait to try it again!
