Enjoy this tasty bean patty that’s ready in 20 minutes. Perfect if you love Italian cuisine.
cans (15 to 16 ounces each) great northern or cannellini beans, rinsed and drained
cup dry Italian seasoned bread crumbs
cup chopped fresh or 1 teaspoon dried basil leaves
teaspoon garlic salt
tablespoons olive or vegetable oil
Hot spaghetti sauce, if desired
Mash beans in large bowl. Stir in remaining ingredients. Shape into 6 patties, each about 1/2 inch thick.
Heat oil in 12-inch nonstick skillet over medium heat. Cook patties in skillet 8 to 10 minutes, turning once, until golden brown.
Serve with spaghetti sauce.
Bean patties are more delicate than ground beef patties, so hold down your exuberance when turning them over with a spatula--use a gentle touch. These bean patties make great California burgers. Serve on hamburger buns topped with slices of raw onion, lettuce, juicy tomato slices and mayonnaise.
