Ingredients

  • 1 cup hoisin sauce
  • 1 tablespoon reduced-sodium soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 clove garlic, finely chopped
  • 1 to 2 teaspoons grated gingerroot
  • 6 hot dogs
  • 6 hot dog buns, split
  • 6 green onions, thinly sliced

Steps

  • 1
Heat gas or charcoal grill. In small bowl, mix hoisin sauce, soy sauce, vinegar, garlic and gingerroot; set aside.
  • 2
Place hot dogs on grill over medium heat. Cook uncovered about 10 minutes, turning frequently, until hot.
  • 3
Spread desired amount of barbecue sauce on cut sides of each bun. Place grilled hot dogs in buns; top with onions. Refrigerate any remaining sauce up to 1 week.

Tips from the Betty Crocker Kitchens

  • tip 1
For added flavor, brush some of the hoisin barbecue sauce on the hot dogs while they grill.
  • tip 2
Toast the hot dog buns on the grill too, if desired. A stove-top grill pan can be used for cooking the hot dogs.
