Grilled Bruschetta Sliders

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Muir Glen™ organic fire roasted crushed tomatoes (from 14.5-oz can)
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh basil leaves
  • 1 lb lean (at least 80%) ground beef
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 8 slices fresh mozzarella cheese
  • 8 mini burger buns (about 2 1/2 inches in diameter), split

Steps

    Heat gas or charcoal grill. In small bowl, toss tomatoes and basil; cover and refrigerate.

    In medium bowl, mix ground beef and Italian seasoning. Shape into 8 equal patties.

    Place patties in grill basket; place on grill over medium heat. Cover grill; cook 8 to 10 minutes, turning once, until meat thermometer inserted in center of patties reads 160°F.

    Place patties on bottom halves of buns. Top each with slice of cheese and spoonful of tomato mixture. Cover with top halves of buns.

    You can make these burgers ahead. Just cover and refrigerate until ready to grill.

    Tomatoes, basil and fresh mozzarella make a delicious salad! Serve your leftovers on the side with your burgers.
