Cool, creamy, thick "caramel deliciousness" in a glass!
cups vanilla ice cream, slightly softened
cup dulce de leche (caramelized sweetened condensed milk from 13.4 oz can)*
piece cooled unfrosted white cake, cut into chunks (from 13x9-inch pan)**
Sweetened whipped cream, if desired
Caramel topping, if desired
In blender, place ice cream, dulce de leche and milk. Cover and blend on high speed until smooth and creamy. Add cake chunks; cover and blend until smooth, stopping blender to scrape down sides if necessary.
Pour into 2 glasses; top with sweetened whipped cream and drizzle with caramel. Serve immediately.
*Dulce de leche is similar to sweetened condensed milk, but it has been caramelized and is much thicker. It can be found either in the Hispanic section, or near the sweetened condensed milk section in the grocery store.
**Frosted cake can be used; white or caramel frosting would taste best in this shake.
