Cranberry Sangría

Cranberries give a seasonal twist to the citrusy Spanish wine punch - this chilled cocktail drink is perfect for your Christmas party.

Ingredients

cups fresh or frozen cranberries

cup sugar

cup water

cans (8.4 oz each) sparkling cranberry juice

bottle (750 ml) white Zinfandel wine

cup fresh orange juice (1 1/2 large oranges)
1
orange, thinly sliced
1
lemon, thinly sliced
1
lime, thinly sliced
1
green apple, thinly sliced into rounds

  • 1 In 2-quart saucepan, heat cranberries, sugar and water to boiling over medium-high heat. Reduce heat to low; simmer uncovered 5 minutes or until cranberries begin to pop. Into large heatproof pitcher, strain mixture through fine-mesh strainer; discard cranberry skins.
  • 2 Add cranberry juice, wine, orange juice and orange, lemon, lime and apple slices to pitcher; stir well. Refrigerate 2 hours. Serve over ice.

Expert Tips

To add even more bubbly flavor, substitute sparkling wine for the white Zinfandel.
