Bailey's Chocolate Torte

Specialty of my grandmothers- rich chocolate torte with Bailey's Irish Cream liquour and whipped cream.

Ingredients

ounces bittersweet chocolate, chopped

eggs, separated
1/2
cup powdered sugar
1
tablespoon vanilla extract
24
ladyfingers, split lengthwise
1/2
cup Bailey's Irish Cream liquour
2
cups whipping cream, whipped
Chocolate curls

  • 1 In medium saucepan, melt chocolate over low heat; stir in powdered sugar and vanilla. Slowly whisk in egg yolks; cook and stir over low heat until thick and glossy.
  • 2 In large bowl, beat egg whites until stiff. Slowly fold in chocolate mixture. Set aside.
  • 3 Dip ladyfingers in Baileys' liquour. Place about 24 ladyfinger halves around sides of ungreased 10-inch springform pan. Break up remaining 24 ladyfingers halves; place in bottom of pan.
  • 4 Spoon chocolate mixture over ladyfingers in bottom of pan. Cover; refrigerate about 1 hour or until chocolate is set. Spoon whipped cream over chocolate mixture. Garnish with chocolate curls.
