LOCATION

Directions

  • 1 Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Layer apples in unsprayed baking pan, so they go up 1/2 to 3/4 of the way up the side of the pan. Set aside.
  • 2 In large bowl, mix flour, oats, butter or margerine, brown sugar, ground cinnamon, and ground ginger (if you like it). Mix with spoon, then switch to hands and continue to mix until well combined. Dough will be extremely sticky. Stir in chopped nuts.
  • 3 Layer dough mixture over apples, you may have extra if you are using a small pan. Bake until apples are soft and crumb topping is baked.

EXPERT TIPS

Expert Tips

Add a handfull of frozen or fresh cranberries to the top of the apples before adding crumb topping to give a nice color and slightly tart flavor. Great served hot or cold with ice cream.

This is more of a concept then a recipe. You can use as many apples of you like, and the ingrediants for the dough is always the same amount of flour, oats, brown sugar, and margerine, with a little cinnamon. So feel free to catter this recipe to your needs.
