Ingredients

4
slices thick-sliced bacon
2
apples, chopped
1
to 2 teaspoons lemon or lime juice
1
head iceberg lettuce, cut into 8 wedges
1
cup blue cheese dressing
1/4
cup crumbled blue cheese (1 oz)

Directions

  • 1 Heat oven to 400°F. Line cookie sheet with foil. Place bacon on cookie sheet.
  • 2 Bake 10 to 15 minutes, turning once, until crisp. Cool 5 minutes. Chop bacon or crumble into small pieces.
  • 3 In medium bowl, toss apples with lemon juice.
  • 4 On serving platter or individual plates, arrange lettuce wedges. Top with dressing, bacon, apples and cheese.

Expert Tips

Pears are also delicious on this salad in place of the apples. Or use a combination.

Try ranch dressing if you’re not a fan of blue cheese dressing, and omit the crumbled blue cheese.
