"It sounded much better than it actually was. The kids would not eat it because it had a "weird taste." That was the beer. I have other cheesy potato soup recipes that I will make instead of this one."

"Made a second batch and I doubled the recipe for a picnic this weekend. This time I used 1/2 cup butter and then poured in the bacon drippings. I used 1/2 cup maple syrup instead of the corn syrup, 2 tsp chipolte chili but only 3 Tbl of the bourbon. It turned out gooey with a bit more zing. I like it much better this way. My husband is still not sure. (But he sure ate a ton of it while I was trying to bag it for the picnic.)"

"Just got done making this for a weekend gathering. I had read the reviews and ramped up the bacon by putting a whole pound in. Glad I did as it needed more salt. It's not bad but I don't know that it's great either. I did use maple syrup instead of the corn syrup as suggested. I would definitely go that route again. I am wondering if using some of the bacon drippings instead of the butter might give it more of the bacon flavor that is needed..."

"Very good. I cooked chicken breasts in the crock pot with just beer. After 8 hours, the breast fell apart with a fork. I made a double batch of the sauce and it still was almost not enough. We like our bbq saucy. Next time I make this I think I will either put in more hot sauce or maybe some ketchup. It could have used just a bit more zing. But, I will make again."

"I made these because I had left-over bananas and wanted to try something different. They weren't bad. The kids weren't crazy about them so it was mostly the dad and me eating them. I didn't hang on to the recipe because I would much rather go back to making banana bread with my ripe bananas."

"I have been making this exact recipe for a couple of years now. The entire family loves it. Usually my husband teases me that the quantity I make in a crock pot is enough for a small army and that he gets tired of eating the same thing for 3 nights. Not with this recipe. It usually gets eaten the same night I make it. I cook bone in, with skin thighs overnight in the crock pot since they are cheaper that the skinless. Then after cooling, I pull them apart and put the meat back in with all of the ingredients and simmer half a day. Sometimes I throw a can of hominy in too. Very much a keeper recipe."

"These were so good that I had to throw the recipe away. They were moist and rich and oh so bad for you. The whole family loved them."

"One of those great recipes to hang on to as I keep almost all of the ingredients on hand, (except bananas). It was a very easy and quick breakfast recipe I used when my mother-in-law stayed for a week. Now I am sharing recipe with all of my relatives. Loved it!"
