This is the first time that we tried the Chicken Helper, and I must say that it wasn't half bad! We have tried various types of Sweet & Sour dinners from other boxed or packaged dinners, and this was by far better. I will say that the sauce was a bit on the thick side, so next time I would try thinning it out - maybe with a little more water, or perhaps pineapple juice as one reviewer suggested. Also, the rice did get mushy, but I think a few tweaks here and there will make it much better the next time we have it!

Thank you Betty! I am always skeptical of trying a sauce that we all know and love that is sold in a BOX but this one is a winner. I used last week's crock pot chicken (frozen in hopes of finding a way to spruce it up). It did not matter that it was precooked. The chicken shredded a little but the seasoned coating made the texture nice and the sauce was great! Dinner was ready in less than 20 minutes! I may add rice to make 4+ servings next time.

Love this dinner!!! Wish there could be more sauce. Use my own instant rice. Just wish I could find it more in stores. Every grocers have all the helpers, but not the sweet & sour. When I do in Pittsburgh,PA, I'll STOCK UP!!!!

The sweet & sour sauce was oh so yummy! The rice? ehhh, reminded me of little maggots. Didn't cook as well. I ended up using my own rice and my meal was great!

Horrid. This Helper really is just disgusting. The sauce is bland and turned into a nasty gelatinous mess after it sat in the pan for just a few minutes. The only thing I thought is that if it did that in the pan, what was it doing in my stomach. This one Helper has turned me off to all Helpers, which is a shame because some of them are so tasty.

The first time I made, I cooked it exactly as the box directed. My family didn't care for it - sauce was weird and gelatinous, tasted sweet but bland. I decided to try making it again and tweaked it a bit. I opened a can of pineapple chunks and added a little juice to the meat as it was cooking. It kind of deglazed the chicken and it cooked perfectly :). I added a little pineapple juice to the sauce mix as well, and added some green pepper and pineapple chunks to the sauce. It turned out perfectly, and tasted exactly like take out sweet and sour chicken. The meat was as tender as restaurant style, too :). My husband raved about it and we ate the whole thing this time. I would make this for company any time - it's awesome!
