This is a great mix! My mom made cupcakes and even used egg replacer, and they turned out great! If I eat more than one, people know it was successful. For those of you that say it's too expensive, you must not have tried others on the market, which can be double the price. No, it should not be priced the same as "glutenous" mixes because of all of the time and prep that goes into keeping it gluten free. Find a Woodman's: it will be cheapest! Thank you Betty Crocker!

Be prepared to spend a lot more money and get half of the product. If you are wanting to make a normal size cake you will need to buy 2 boxes of this mix. So a non-gluten free mix cost approx $1 and to make a normal size cake will set you back close to $9-10. Also, beware that this product does contain soy. I will not be purchasing again.

I used the yellow cake mix to make gluten free sugar cookies for my 6yr old niece. They were so good. Very easy to do.The price for the cake mix is a little high.Should be same price as your other cake mixes.

So, the Betty Crocker gluten free cake is the bomb, best one I have ever had. a small change to the method as listed on teh box is required though... Cream the butter with a hand or stand mixer, if you can keep it as close to fridge temperature and it will help with this process, just be sure that it's not really soft (like you would want to butter a piece of toast, wait, if you are eating a GF cake, then your probably not eating toast...);) one thing that will help is to cube the butter and toss it in the bowl a couple pieces at a time as you're creaming it. Cream the butter for about 4-5 minutes with the mixer on med-hi speed. If it does not seem like it was creamed for long enough, just keep going and add an extra minute or two to this step. Because I am a huge fan of it, USE SALTED BUTTER! Next add the eggs and vanilla and incorporate completely then add the other wet items and continue to mix this for about 2-3 minutes. Now add the dry mix and continue by following the box directions. If I remember right it was: mix for 30 seconds till everything is incorporated then beat on med-hi for 2 minutes. If it's not what is on the box, do it this way... Now is the time for archaic law! Those are the ones where we get to have archaic and eat it too!

We will not purchase this Gluten Free Cake Mix again. I have tried it twice and got the same results both time. The mixture is very coarse, like cornbread, and the taste is not good.

After reading the reviews I was a little worried about how these would turn out. I was pleasantly surprise when they were really good! I made sure to follow the directions closely and made regular size and mini-cupcakes, all rose to perfection and were fluffy! Everyone said they tasted better than other gluten free cupcakes they've tried. All in all a great and easy way to make gluten-free dessert for your family!

I'm glad this product is available in Canada, as some of the Betty Crocker G.F. Mixes are not. As a gluten-free individual, I find the mix quite tasty. Of course the mix is a little grainy, but that is due to the rice flour in it. You have to remember, the mix only makes one 8 or 9 inch layer, not two. I only use butter as the box suggests, never margarine, which has a higher water content in it, and never has the flavour of butter in my opinion. I also use large omega-3 eggs and pure vanilla extract, maybe this makes a difference in the outcome of the final product. For the price (I purchase many when on sale) and the quality I am extremely pleased.

I did not like this at all. It was dry and tasteless. Sorry, Betty! After trying the absolutely delicious Brownie Mix, I had high hopes for this cake, but I will NOT buy it again. Even my boyfriend, who eats anything, wouldn't eat it, even covered in thick chocolate icing!

I don't like it as a cake cause it is dry and crusty.BUT,I do like to use it as a base for several other recipes and is great!!!

This is THE WORST gluten free cake mix I have ever had. The texture is extremely grainy (like on other review stated - much like cornbread) and it tasted off. I will NEVER buy this again. I t was a waste of $5.
