Ball Game Cupcakes teach kids to 'gear up' with everything needed before baking.

Just like in tennis, baseball, football and basketball, it’s important to have a strategy for success when baking. Taking the time to develop a game plan with your child before you begin will ensure delicious results every time – and that is something to cheer about!.

Teachable Moments

Begin your baking adventure with a game plan.

Clip Box Tops from the cake mix box and the frosting label

Read the recipe from beginning to end

Gather all ingredients

Set out supplies – measuring cups, spoons, spatula, garbage bowl

Wash hands to start (and after touching garbage, eggs, etc.)

Ready, set, bake!

Teachable Moments

After a step is completed, have your child tell you what step should come next.

Friendly Reminders

• Always start by clipping Box Tops

• Stock up on baking staples during sales

• Follow the recipe exactly

• Don't forget to set a timer

• Allow items to cool before frosting

With our eight and six year olds, we often find it easier on them (& us) to arrange "stations" where the different stages of the recipe come together. This way, they're not trying to get ahead, and you won't have near as big a clean-up job when you're finished.
