Craft a creepy cocktail that stares back at you with these easy to make eyeball garnishes.
What’s a Halloween party without a few spooky cocktails to enjoy? These eyeball martinis combine a few simple, easy-to-find ingredients to create one classic, eye-catching drink. Just a few tricks are all it takes to make a treat that not only tastes good, but it stares back at you!
To make eyeballs out of radishes, simply peel parts of the red skin, leaving a few streaks behind for the bloody eye vessels. Slice off the tip of each radish, then scoop out part of the center using a melon baller or paring knife. Insert half a pimiento-stuffed green olive and plop both radishes into a martini glass. Don’t they look realistic?
To make eyeballs out of olives, take two jumbo pitted black olives and insert a baby carrot into the pitted center of each olive. Slice off the edge of the carrots so they’re flush with the edge of the olive and skewer each eyeball onto a toothpick. I love these because they are not only the easiest to make, but they combine two classic Halloween colors.
To make eyeballs using grapes, peel back the skin of two large black seedless grapes (the bigger the grapes, the better, so I’d go for globe grapes if you can find them). Using a melon baller or paring knife, cut out a small hole in the center of the exposed skin. Insert a small cranberry or blueberry for the iris and skewer each eyeball onto a toothpick. These are the creepiest eyeballs, in my opinion!
To make the martini, combine a few ounces of gin or vodka with dry vermouth in a cocktail shaker or mixing glass, shake or stir (whichever you prefer) and pour over the garnishes in martini glasses.
Serve to guests with a ghoulish laugh – and let the monster mash begin!
