Turkey Meatball Shawarma Boats

This riff on the Mediterranean classic uses easy Freezer-Friendly Turkey Meatballs and El Paso™ Stand 'n Stuff™ soft flour tortillas to give the flavors of shawarma and gyros without the restaurant-sized rotisserie. MORE + LESS -

Ingredients

Meatballs and Shells

lb frozen turkey meatballs (8 meatballs)

tablespoon olive oil

teaspoon curry powder
1/8
teaspoon ground red pepper (cayenne)

Old El Paso™ Taco Boats™ Soft Flour Tortillas

Stuffing

1/3
cup Yoplait® Greek 100 plain yogurt
1/4
cup diced red onion
1/4
cup diced cucumber
1/8
teaspoon salt

cup shredded romaine
1/4
cup diced tomato
1/4
cup crumbled feta cheese (1 oz)

    Heat oven to 400°F. Line cookie sheet with foil; top with rack. Spray rack with cooking spray.

    Add frozen meatballs, olive oil, curry powder and red pepper to resealable food-storage plastic bag; seal bag, and toss to coat. Place meatballs on half of rack; bake 30 minutes.

    Place tortillas on other half of rack with meatballs, and return to oven. Bake about 3 minutes longer or until tortillas are golden brown on edges and instant-read thermometer inserted in meatball reads 165°F.

    Meanwhile, in small bowl, stir together yogurt, onion, cucumber and salt. Divide romaine among tortillas. Cut meatballs in half; place 4 halves in each tortilla. Top with yogurt mixture, tomato and feta cheese.

Expert Tips

  • Add in your favorite shawarma toppings--from hummus to pickles.
  • We faked "ras el hanout" with curry powder and cayenne, but if you can find this awesome North African seasoning, use it instead!
