Smoked Almond, Cheddar and Bacon Dip

Ingredients

  • 2 packages (8 ounces each) cream cheese, cubed
  • 3 jars (5 ounces each) process sharp Cheddar cheese spread
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 clove garlic, finely chopped
  • 2 medium green onions, thinly sliced (2 tablespoons)
  • 1/2 cup coarsely chopped canned smoked whole almonds
  • 4 slices bacon, crisply cooked and crumbled
  • Assorted raw vegetables or breadsticks, if desired

    Heat cream cheese, cheese spread, milk and garlic in 2-quart saucepan over medium heat, stirring frequently, until cheese is melted and smooth. Stir in onions and 1/4 cup of the almonds.

    Spoon into 1-quart slow cooker to keep warm if desired or into serving bowl. Sprinkle with bacon and remaining 1/4 cup almonds. Serve with vegetables. Dip will hold in slow cooker on Low heat setting up to 2 hours; stir occasionally. 32 servings (2 tablespoons dip each).

  • Prepare the dip and spoon into a slow cooker. Tote to the party, then plug in to heat and keep warm.
  • If you like, purchase the bacon already cooked in the prepared meats area of the grocery store. It is available in strips and chopped and is a great convenience item.
  • The dip mixture can be made up to 24 hours in advance. Spoon into a slow cooker and refrigerate until ready to heat.
