Ingredients

  • 3 cups whipping cream
  • 1 cup cold dark beer
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla
  • 1 cup beer nuts

Steps

  • 1
In chilled large bowl, stir whipping cream, beer, brown sugar and vanilla until sugar is dissolved.
  • 2
Pour mixture into 1-quart ice-cream freezer. Freeze according to manufacturer’s directions, 20 to 25 minutes. At this point, the ice cream will be soft.
  • 3
Fold nuts into ice cream mixture. Transfer to 1 1/2-quart freezer container with lid; cover. Freeze at least 4 hours.

  • Beer nuts (which don’t contain any beer) have a sweet-and-salty glaze that makes them go well with a cold beer. If you don’t care for nuts in ice cream, you can leave them out.
  • Dark beer provides more flavor than a lighter colored beer, but if dark beer tastes too bitter to you, use your favorite brand of beer.
  • To make Chocolate-Ripple Beer Ice Cream, fold 1/2 cup hot fudge topping into ice cream mixture at the same time as the beer nuts.
