  • 2 cans (15 to 16 ounces each) great northern or cannellini beans, rinsed and drained
  • 1/2 cup dry Italian seasoned bread crumbs
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh or 1 teaspoon dried basil leaves
  • 3/4 teaspoon garlic salt
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 2 tablespoons olive or vegetable oil

  • 1
Mash beans in large bowl. Stir in remaining ingredients. Shape into 6 patties, each about 1/2 inch thick.

  • 3
    Serve with spaghetti sauce.

Tips from the Betty Crocker Kitchens

  • tip 1
Bean patties are more delicate than ground beef patties, so hold down your exuberance when turning them over with a spatula--use a gentle touch. These bean patties make great California burgers. Serve on hamburger buns topped with slices of raw onion, lettuce, juicy tomato slices and mayonnaise.
