Goat Cheese and Bacon Pops

We rolled basil-infused cream cheese and goat cheese balls in a crispy bacon and pecan mixture to create our easy and delicious appetizer pops. The perfect party appetizer that's ready in only 40 minutes.

Ingredients

  • 4 oz (half of 8-oz package) cream cheese
  • 1 package (4 oz) chèvre (goat) cheese
  • 2 teaspoons dried basil leaves
  • 16 paper lollipop sticks
  • 1/3 cup chopped pecans
  • 1/4 cup crumbled cooked bacon

Steps

  • 1
    Line cookie sheet with waxed paper. In food processor, process cream cheese, chèvre cheese and 1 teaspoon of the basil until well beaten.

    Using small cookie scoop, shape mixture into balls; place on cookie sheet. Insert lollipop stick into each ball. Freeze 20 minutes.

    In food processor, process pecans, bacon and remaining 1 teaspoon basil with on/off pulses until finely ground. Roll cheese balls in bacon mixture. If needed, press mixture onto balls to stick.

    Serve immediately or refrigerate in covered container until serving time.

    You can use cooked real bacon bits or pieces found in a jar at the supermarket for this recipe instead of cooking and crumbling slices of bacon.
