Ingredients

  • 24 slices (1/2 inch thick) baguette French bread (about 8 oz)
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 8 oz Havarti cheese, cut into 24 slices
  • 6 dried figs, cut lengthwise into quarters
  • 3 tablespoons honey
  • 1/4 teaspoon coarse ground black pepper

Steps

  • 1
Heat oven to 425°F. On ungreased large cookie sheet, place bread slices; brush tops lightly with oil.
  • 2
Bake 5 to 6 minutes or until bread is just starting to turn golden brown. Turn slices over; top each with 1 cheese slice. Bake 2 to 3 minutes longer or just until cheese starts to melt.
  • 3
Place fig quarter, seed side up, on top of each cheese-topped toast. Drizzle with honey and sprinkle with pepper. Serve immediately.

Tips from the Betty Crocker Kitchens

  • tip 1
If you buy honey in a squeeze bottle, it works great for this recipe. Or, if you have honey in a jar and it seems too thick to drizzle, heat it for a few seconds in the microwave first. Don’t heat it too long, or it will become runny.
  • tip 2
Mission figs, also known as Black Mission figs, are purple-black in color and are a good choice for this recipe since they have very small seeds.
