Easy Brown Sugar-Mustard Glaze

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 3 tablespoons honey
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon pineapple juice

Steps

  • 1
In small bowl, mix all ingredients with whisk until well blended.
  • 2
Brush glaze over ham during last 45 minutes of baking.

  • The key to this glaze is the brown sugar and honey, which caramelize on the surface of ham or pork roast as they bake.
  • If you have a substantial piece of meat, double the recipe, so you’ve got plenty for brushing on and serving alongside. Use half the glaze to brush on meat. Place the remaining sauce in a small saucepan, heat to a boil, constantly stirring, cooking until thickened. If it becomes too thick, you can thin it a little with more juice or water.
  • Sub in orange juice and grainy mustard for a switch-up in flavor and texture.
  • Since this is so simple to stir up, why not make some when you grill or bake pork chops or bone-in chicken pieces, too? Note: be careful when grilling, as the glaze can burn easily, so use care near the end of cooking.
