Ingredients

  • 4 small limes, quartered
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 2 to 3 oz cachaça or light rum
  • Crushed ice

Steps

    Place 1 quartered lime in each of 4 lowball glasses. Using a wooden spoon or muddler, crush limes.
  • 2
    Add 2 tablespoons sugar to each glass; stir until sugar is dissolved. Add cachaça; top each glass with ice.

  • It is traditional in Brazil to serve this drink with feijoada (a stew with sliced meat and black beans) and a rice dish.
