It’s never too late to reap the benefits of exercise. In a study at Tufts University, researchers introduced strength-training to nursing home residents. At the beginning of the study, most were so frail they needed help getting out of a chair. Within two months, they had doubled their strength, and two of residents even threw away their canes.
