  • 6 cups sliced peeled apples (about 6 medium)
  • 2/3 cup sweetened dried cranberries
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons maple-flavored syrup
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 2/3 cup quick-cooking oats
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup Original Bisquick™ mix
  • 1/4 cup chopped walnuts
  • 1/4 cup butter or margarine, softened
  • Vanilla ice cream, if desired

Steps

  • 1
Heat oven to 375°F. In large bowl, mix apples, cranberries, cinnamon, syrup and lemon juice. Spoon into ungreased 8-inch square baking dish.
  • 2
In medium bowl, mix remaining ingredients except ice cream with fork until crumbly. Sprinkle over fruit mixture.
  • 3
Bake 35 to 40 minutes or until apples are tender, juices are bubbly and topping is golden brown. Cool about 30 minutes. Serve warm with ice cream.

  • Unlike fresh cranberries, dried cranberries are available year-round and can be used like raisins when baking.
  • Tart cooking or baking apples work best in this dessert. Choose from these varieties: Braeburn, Cortland, Empire, Granny Smith, Greening, Haralson, Ida Red, Newtown Pippin, Prairie Spy, Rome and York Imperial. Try them all to find your favorites!
