Apple crisp is my family's favorite fall dessert. We are lucky enough to go apple picking each year and have since created an apple crisp baking tradition. I absolutely love to make our apple crisp in the slow cooker. This method lets me quickly drop the ingredients in the crock and am able to spend the rest of the evening relaxing with the family.
To start, mix up your cinnamon and sugar until well combined.
Place apple slices in a large bowl and pour the cinnamon-sugar mixture over apples. Stir until the slices are evenly coated.
Place apple mixture into a 4-5 quart slow cooker that’s been coated with non-stick cooking spray.
Now onto the topping! Combine all topping ingredients (find exact measurements below), except for butter, into a large mixing bowl. Again, stir until well combined.
Place butter pieces on top and using a fork or pastry cutter, cut cold butter into the mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs.
Sprinkle topping over apple mixture. Cover and cook on high for 3 hours.
Serve warm with a scoop of your favorite ice cream. Yum!
