How to make pie crust with pancake mix

Asked on 4/10/2016 12:00:00 AM by LoriGoober

Thank you for visiting Ask Betty.  Here are two Bisquick pie crust recipes:  one for a rolled crust, and one for a pat-in-pan.  Happy baking!

Pie Crust

Bisquick® Original Baking Mix

Pat-in-the-Pan Pie Crust

1 cup Bisquick Original baking mix

1/4 cup butter or margarine, softened

2 tablespoons boiling water

Heat oven to 450°.  Mix Bisquick baking mix and softened butter or margarine in small bowl.  Add boiling water; stir vigorously until very soft dough forms.  Press dough firmly with floured hands in 9-inch pie plate, bringing dough onto rim of plate.  Flute if desired.  Bake until light brown, 8 to 10 minutes; cool.

High Altitude Directions (3500 to 6500 feet):  No adjustments are necessary.

Rolled Pie Crust

1 cup Bisquick® Original baking mix

1/4 cup light cream.

Heat oven to 450°.  Stir baking mix and cream to a soft dough.  Gently smooth dough into a ball on floured cloth-covered board. Knead 5 times.  Roll dough 2 inches larger than inverted 9-inch pie pan.  Ease into pan and flute edge.  Bake until light brown, 8 to 10 minutes; cool.
