Ingredients

1: lb lean (at least 80%) ground beef

1: cup hot water

2: cups milk

1: box Hamburger Helper® stroganoff

1/2: teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes

1: can (2.8 oz) French-fried onions

1/2: cup coarsely chopped red, green and/or yellow bell pepper

1/4: cup ketchup

Directions

1 In 10-inch skillet, cook beef over medium-high heat 5 to 7 minutes, stirring frequently, until thoroughly cooked; drain.
2 Stir in hot water, milk, sauce mix and uncooked pasta (from Hamburger Helper box) and pepper flakes. Heat to boiling, stirring occasionally.
3 Reduce heat; cover and simmer 8 minutes. Stir in 2 tablespoons of the French-fried onions, the bell pepper and ketchup.
4 Cover; simmer about 8 minutes, stirring occasionally, until pasta is tender. To serve, sprinkle with remaining onions.

After a couple of alterations, this was a household hit! I used the Whole Grain Hamburger Helper Stroganoff, 1 lb. of stew meat instead of hamburger (made it more like real stroganoff), twice as much red and green bell pepper and topped each serving with a dollop of sour cream. Everyone asked for seconds!
