Directions

  • 1 Heat waffle maker. If necessary, brush with vegetable oil before batter for each waffle is added (or spray with cooking spray before heating). In medium bowl, beat egg whites with egg beater until foamy. Beat in remaining waffle ingredients just until smooth.
  • 2 Pour about 3/4 cup batter from cup or pitcher onto center of hot waffle maker. (Check manufacturer's directions for recommended amount of batter.) Close lid of waffle maker.
  • 3 Bake about 5 minutes or until steaming stops. Carefully remove waffle. Repeat with remaining batter.
  • 4 Meanwhile, in small microwavable bowl, mix honey and peanut butter. Microwave uncovered on High 40 to 60 seconds or until warm; stir until smooth. Serve with waffles.

Made this today in honor of my father. Happy Father's Day, Dad! I used the recipe exactly except no peanut butter syrup. I made my own buttermilk by adding 1 Tblspoon lemon juice per cup, stirring it, and letting it stand for 5 minutes. So yummy, quick, and easy. It was my first time making waffles from scratch and the first time using my new Cuisinart waffle maker!!! It was wonderful!

Great, simple recipe. This even brought a family of waffle nay-sayers out of the dark! One can easily add fruits, nuts and syrup/glaze for thier own unique version.
