I took a spin on this...I did use pastry puffs but opted for Betty's original vanilla cream pie filling. From her 1950's book. They are amazing! Since the pastries are pretty bland, I wanted a knock out filling. Nothing beats Betty's puddings and pie fillings. I use them whenever a recipe calls for pudding from a box. It's a bit more time but the effort is worth it.
