Ingredients

box (1 lb 2.4 oz) Betty Crocker® Original Supreme Premium brownie mix
Water, oil and egg called for on brownie mix box
1
cup plus 2 tablespoons Betty Crocker® Rich & Creamy creamy white frosting (from 16 oz container)
1/8
to 1/4 teaspoon mint or peppermint extract
Green or pink food color
Peppermint or spearmint candies, crushed, if desired

Directions

  • 1 Heat oven to 350°F (325°F for dark or nonstick pan). Grease bottom only of 8-inch or 9-inch square pan with cooking spray or shortening. Make brownies as directed on box. Cool completely, about 1 hour.
  • 2 Stir together frosting, 1/8 to 1/4 teaspoon extract and food color until smooth. Spread frosting evenly over brownies. Sprinkle with crushed candies. For brownies, cut into 4 rows by 4 rows. Store tightly covered.

I made the homemade vanilla icing and put peppermint extract in it then put it on a cake with Andes mints yummy (my kids didn't like the idea of bitting into hard pieces)

SUPER easy to make and really pretty. They are a bit sweet and I think that next time I make them, I'll add mint to the brownie batter in addition to the frosting.

I made these brownies last year for the holidays and they were a huge hit. The only thing I'm going to do different the next time is add some mint to the brownie mixture. Also, crushing the candies was fun, but slightly messy.
