Tuscan Turkey Torta

Ingredients

1 1/3: cups Original Bisquick® mix

1/3: cup Italian dressing

1: can (15 oz) Progresso® cannellini (white kidney) beans, drained, rinsed and mashed

1 1/2: cups diced cooked turkey

1: package (10 ounces) frozen chopped spinach, thawed and squeezed to drain

1: cup shredded mozzarella cheese (4 ounces)

3: eggs, slightly beaten

1 1/4: cups milk

1/3: cup slivered almonds

Directions

1 Heat oven to 375°F. Mix Bisquick mix, dressing and beans. Spread in bottom and 2 inches up side of springform pan, 9x3 inches. Bake 10 to 12 minutes or until set.
2 Layer with turkey, spinach and cheese. Mix eggs and milk; pour over cheese. Sprinkle evenly with almonds.
3 Bake 50 to 55 minutes or until golden brown and knife inserted near center comes out clean. Let stand 10 minutes. Loosen edge of torta from side of pan; remove side of pan.

To toast nuts, bake uncovered in ungreased shallow pan in 350°F oven about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until golden brown.

Cannellini beans are large, white Italian kidney beans. They are particularly popular in soups and salads, but here they are mashed to help make a delicious crust.

This was okay, but the next time I make I will be adding more flavor to the filling. As it is it kind of bland.

This recipe is a HIT!! For the absolute best results, use a freshly roasted chicken instead of the turkey it originally calls for. I also add about 1 fresh onion that I dice and carmalize first, and for added flavor and beautiful color, I add approximately 3 tablespoons of roasted red pepper.This recipe (as is) may not the the best one on this site, but if made with a few "pinches of this and that", you will definitely be adding this to your favorites!

I made this for a charity Pot-luck and it disappeared pretty quick. Just reading the recipe, it did sound sort of bland so I modified it a little by using chicken, instead of turkey, and added some garlic and paprika when cooking the chicken. I also added a little garlic powder to the egg mixture. I am making this again for a Memorial Day get together. I hope more people will try this and add some of their favorite seasonings that marry with the other ingredients.
