Here’s a hot turkey sandwich with a difference! Or is it a hot turkey salad with a difference? Cooked ground turkey is spooned onto pita crusts and topped with sliced tomatoes and a creamy cheese topping that melts as it heats in the oven. You’ll definitely eat this sandwich with a fork!

I was really surprised at how good this is... I've made it a few times now and my Husband loves it! Like the others I add more spices to the ground turkey and I also use Wheat Tortillas instead of Pita's and I like it a lot better. Very Yummy!

This turned out fabulous, though I took other reviewers' comments to heart when I prepared it -- and tweaked the recipe quite a bit. Added tons of spices to the ground turkey, including garlic salt and Italian seasoning, and that really added some kick. I also included fresh, chopped tomatoes and raw onion before it was baked. Loved this recipe because it was easy to cut down on the calories. I used low-fat mayo, fat-free sour cream and 2% shredded cheese -- and it still tasted great! The sauce is so creamy and delicious. Plus, it was easy to customize for the pickier eaters in my house... my sister, for example, got a "sandwich" (definitely eat this one with a knife and fork) without tomatoes and onion, but with extra cheese. Different and tasty!

My sister and I love this recipe! I had to add some seasoning to the turkey (garlic and italian seasoning). And I may try chipotle instead of paprika next time to give it some kick.

I tried this out on hubby and parents. Everyone liked it. I would add a bit more seasoning to the turkey but overall it had very good flavor. Very filling!

This is very good. I skipped the paprika and added fresh chopped cilantro instead to the top after baking. It was delicous :) Also, try olive oil to cook your turkey in it gives it great flavor.

I have to admit at first I didn't think this was going to be that good, I was happily mistaken! Trying to cut calories I used flatout bread (found in deli section)instead of pita bread and used fat-free mayo and fat-free sour cream. I didn't have any poultry seasoning so I used an all purpose seasoning and all I can say is YUM! Also I left out the celery... son isn't a fan, LOL but still turned out terrific.

Loved this! I always try to find new ways to make ground turkey because my husband doesn't really like it, but this he LOVED, and asked me to make it again.

These are awesome! The ground turkey is like a mild ground beef. The topping is not like anything you imagine. It is a creamy cheese taste. My wife added tomatoes to the topping to add flavor and to get a vegetable (or fruit depending on who you are talking to) in the dish.

I''m not sure why the others didn''t like this. We LOVE it! It''s inexpensive, easy to make, and has a nice, creamy topping that is delicious! I am not a ground turkey fan but this was great, the turkey was nice and tender. We made a few changes for convenience sake. We left out the celery and changed the poultry seasoning to seasoned salt. You can also use sliced ham and turkey or turkey and then add bacon pieces to the topping. Makes a nice, hot deli sandwich! Just be sure to watch your cooking times.. it''s not so great if you overcook the pita shells.
