Ingredients

4: cups milk

1/2: cup sugar

1/4: cup white rice

1/4: teaspoon salt

1/4: teaspoon nutmeg

1: teaspoon vanilla extract

Directions

1 Combine all ingredients together and poor into casserole dish. Back uncovered at 325.
2 When light brown skin begins to form, stir and continue baking until a second brown skin forms( about 2 1/2 hours all together)
3 If extra ingredients are desired(raisins etc.) add 1 1/2 hours before pudding is done

My deceased mother-in-law made a rice pudding with raisons in a double boiler on the stove that my husband really misses. I have tried to duplicate this flavor by oven methods without any luck. Can you help. She used white rice and I remember having to help her with the stirring which took some time. (she already had ingredients and all steps completed by the time she called for stirring help. ) It seems like about 3-5 minutes . It was,nt too thick or too thin and was always served warm. Can you help me?
