Directions

  • 1 Heat oven to 350°F. Grease bottom only of 13x9-inch pan with cooking spray or shortening. (For easier cutting, line pan with foil, then grease foil on bottom only of pan.)
  • 2 Make and bake brownies as directed on box. Cool completely.
  • 3 Frost brownies with frosting. Sprinkle with peanuts; refrigerate while making cereal mixture.
  • 4 Measure cereal into large bowl; set aside. In 1-quart saucepan, melt peanut butter and chocolate chips over low heat, stirring constantly. Pour over cereal in bowl, stirring until evenly coated. Spread over frosted brownies. Refrigerate 1 hour or until set before cutting. For bars, cut into 6 rows by 4 rows. Store tightly covered at room temperature or in refrigerator.

Very good. I added some toffee bits to the peanut layer. They were too chocolately for a couple people, but overall, very good.

This recipe turned out pretty good except for the topper. I omitted the peanut butter and nuts and added a layer of chocolate frosting beneath the vanilla. Using a whole can of vanilla frosting was a bit much, next time I would use whipped. The true failure was the topping, it got stale after only a day and did not stay crunchy like it should have been. Also when making topping need way more chocolate than called for.

Very good brownie bars. Cut them in small squares since they are very rich.I served them to my family with vanilla ice cream. Definitely will feed a crowd since you can cut them smaller.
