Tomato Jam with Whipped Goat Cheese Appetizer

This delicious starter will delight and impress with the sweet and savory combination; make extra jam and save it for your next get together as it will go fast!

Ingredients

Tomato Jam

can (28 oz) Muir Glen™ organic fire roasted diced tomatoes
1/2
cup sugar
2
teaspoons ras el hanout

Whipped Goat Cheese

4
oz chèvre (goat) cheese, softened
2
tablespoons whipping cream
1
teaspoon finely grated lemon peel

Chips, as desired

Directions

  • 1 In bowl of food processor, add tomatoes. Cover; puree until texture is uniform.
  • 2 In 2-quart saucepan, stir pureed tomatoes, sugar and ras el hanout with spoon. Heat to boiling over medium heat; reduce heat. Cook about 30 minutes, stirring occasionally, until very thick.
  • 3 In medium bowl, beat goat cheese, cream and lemon peel on medium speed until light and fluffy.
  • 4 Serve a dollop of Tomato Jam over a smear of Whipped Goat Cheese on top of a sweet potato chip.

Expert Tips

The tomato jam in this recipe is also delicious as a condiment with sandwiches; it adds great depth of flavor to anything from burgers to meatloaf sandwiches!
