EXPERT TIPS

Expert Tips

To make this easy recipe even easier, use 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder or 1/2 teaspoon chopped garlic from a jar to save a few minutes.

Nothing complements beans like hot corn bread slathered with butter. Add a big bowl of your favorite creamy cabbage salad and tall glasses of lemonade for a "Southern moment" at your supper table.

If you like more punch to your Tex-Mex dishes, pass the bottle of hot red pepper sauce or some crushed red pepper at the table, so everyone can have just the right seasoning.

I made this for our July 4th dinner today. They were great, but we definitely needed the hot sauce on the table! Next time I will add a little more garlic and a pinch more of salt...possibly a little cumin.
