Teriyaki Fried Rice with Beef

This recipe adds a little flavor to the tradition flavor of fried rice. I have only used beef strips but could easily be used for other meats as well.

Directions

  • 1 Prepare the teriyaki sauce by combining soy sauce, water, ginger, garlic, sugar and honey in a small sauce pan and heat.
  • 2 In a separate bowl, combine cornstarch and cold water and mix until dissolved.
  • 3 Add cornstarch mixture to sauce pan and heat until desired thickness. Remove from heat and allow sauce to cool.
  • 4 While sauce is cooling, cut the beef into cubes. Then add sauce to beef and marinate for 30 minutes. Add just enough sauce to cover the meat. Set the rest of the sauce aside.
  • 5 Start rice as instructed by package and pour marinated beef into a wok or saucepan and cook on high until meat is no longer pink.
  • 6 Add onions and frozen peas to the beef and cook for about 3-4 minutes.
  • 7 Add rice and fry in remaining teriyaki sauce for ~5 minutes. Add more or less sauce to taste.
