This was a good cold-day meal. My husband prefers a recipe using tomatoes/tomato sauce only, but the rest of us thought this was just fine. We cooked it in our Dutch oven, so the meat wasn't as tender as it would have been in the slow cooker.

This was very yummy. I added 1/2 cup wine and sliced mushrooms to the mix. The meat was very tender and the whole family liked it! (I also par-boiled the potatoes and carrots before adding to the crock pot to be sure they would cook through) A keeper...thanks!

I've been making this for almost 2 years and talk about delicious as well as easy! I would also give this a 5 star rating. The steak comes out so tender you can cut it with your fork. A great recipe for the working woman like myself and everyone loves it!!

Swiss steak has been my favorite meal since I was a small child. My mom put sliced onions in the skillet, then added the round steak and browned it. Then she added the canned tomatoes, a small can of tomato paste, and steamed it gently for an hour or so. I think I like this idea of adding carrots and potatoes to it.

Betty must have re-set her ratings and reviews on this Slow Cooker Swiss Steak Supper - this has been a family favorite since I printed the recipe in 2006. It had a 5-star rating. I have everything I need to make it for today. When I am short on time I pre-cook the meat and veggies to some degree and heat the tomatos and gravy before adding to the crock-pot to cut the cooking time. I often add fresh, sliced mushrooms to the veggies.
