2/3
cup powdered sugar
1
package (3 ounces) cream cheese, softened
1/2
teaspoon almond extract
1
egg
1 3/4
cups Original Bisquick® mix
2/3
cup miniature semisweet chocolate chips
1
can (21 ounces) cherry pie filling
1/4
cup white baking chips
2
teaspoons shortening
  • 1 Heat oven to 400ºF. Stir together powdered sugar, cream cheese, almond extract and egg. Stir in Bisquick mix. Pat dough into 12-inch circle on ungreased cookie sheet.
  • 2 Bake 8 to 10 minutes or until light golden brown. Sprinkle chocolate chips over hot crust. Bake 1 minute longer or until chips are melted; spread evenly. Cool 5 minutes. Gently loosen and transfer to serving plate.
  • 3 Spread pie filling over crust. Heat white baking chips and shortening over low heat until smooth; drizzle over pie filling.

Expert Tips

If you're making this for your sweetheart, pat the dough into a large heart shape before baking and topping it.

You'll find that using a fork makes it easy to drizzle the melted white baking chips over the cherry pie filling.

I made this recipe for a 4th of July party. It was quick and easy. It was cooled and ready to go in less than an hour. I made the "cookie" bottom in a star shaped pan and added 1/4 cup sliced almonds to the dough before pressing into the pan. The chocolate was easy to spread and looked great. It was a little tricky getting out of the pan because of the higher sides, but it didn''t stick! I sprinkled additional sliced almonds on the cherries before drizzling white chocolate. What a hit! And, it was prettier than the store-bought treats at the party we went to!
