Sweet and Sour Beef Stew

This yummy, rich and hearty beef stew is perfect for a wintery Saturday and easy to prepare. Serve with egg noodles or rice, crescent rolls, and a green vegetable side for the perfect weekend dinner.

Ingredients

lb beef stew meat
1
15 oz can tomato sauce
1/2
lb baby carrots
1/2
onion (chopped)
1/3
cup brown sugar
1/3
cup vinegar
2
Tbsp flour
2
Tbsp Worcestershire sauce
Hot, cooked egg noodles or rice if desired

  • 1 Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
  • 2 In a 2 quart dutch oven mix tomato sauce, brown sugar, vinegar, flour, and Worcestershire sauce.
  • 3 Add raw stew meat, baby carrots, and chopped onions. Stir well.
  • 4 Cover and place in oven for 2 hours and 30 minutes at 375 degrees.
  • 5 Remove from oven, stir, and place back in 375 degree oven uncovered and cook until sweet and sour tomato sauce is thickened (about 15-25 minutes).
  • 6 Remove from oven and serve alone or over egg noodles or rice.
