2
cups Original Bisquick® mix
2
tablespoons sugar
1/2
cup milk
2
tablespoons butter or margarine, softened
1
egg
1
medium unpeeled red apple, thinly sliced (about 1 cup)
1/4
cup butter or margarine, melted
2
tablespoons sugar
1/2
teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 Heat oven to 400°F. Spray 9-inch square pan with cooking spray. In medium bowl, stir Bisquick mix, 2 tablespoons sugar, the milk, 2 tablespoons butter and egg until well blended. Spread batter evenly in pan.
  • 2 Arrange apple slices in 3 rows, overlapping slices slightly, on batter. Brush 1/4 cup melted butter over tops of apple slices.
  • 3 In small bowl, mix 2 tablespoons sugar and the cinnamon; sprinkle over apples.
  • 4 Bake 16 to 18 minutes or until edges are golden brown. Cool 15 minutes before serving. Cut with serrated knife into squares.

Expert Tips

Leaving the peel on the apple saves time, adds color and extra fiber.

This cake was dry and did not have much taste to it. Would be good for someone who did not like something real sweet.
