I was in the mood for a good, old-fashioned apple pie and was thrilled with this recipe! My husband, daughter, and her boyfriend all raved about it! I used Granny smith apples because we like the tart with the sweet of the sugar. I will dot it with butter next time, but no other changes needed. Thank you for sharing.

OH MY GOSH. This pie was delicious! I had made a different kind of apple pie before this one and it was no where as good as this one. I added a little more cinnamon then it calls for, but it was still as good and still had that balance of spices and apple flavor, and the sugar on top was like the icing on the cake! I am def. making this pie again for thanksgving!!!

This pie was easy to make and a huge hit with my family! I have been cooking for 10 years but never ventured too much into making pies and things. When it was all gone, they were begging for more! Thank you.

I have always sprinkled sugar on top of my pie`s, but instead of using water. I use alittle milk. Coat the top lightly & then sprinkle the suage on. Make it golden brown.

This is the recipe that I have based my apple pies on for 25 years. The only differences are: 1) I use more cinnamon than the recipe calls for.2) I use milk on the top of the crust before I sprinkle the sugar on, it promotes a more golden brown crust. (A trick my grandma taught me.)People absolutely love my apple pie, so I know it will please your friends and family, too.
