Fresh Strawberry Smoothies

Ingredients

  • 1 pint (2 cups) fresh strawberries
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 containers (6 oz each) strawberry low-fat yogurt

    Place the strawberries in a strainer and rinse under cold running water. Gently pat dry with paper towels. Reserve 4 strawberries for the garnish. Cut out the hull, or "cap," from the remaining strawberries with the point of a paring knife.

    In a blender or food processor, place the strawberries, milk and yogurt.

    Cover; blend on high speed about 30 seconds or until smooth. Pour into glasses. Garnish each with a strawberry.

  • You can use other flavored yogurts such as banana cream pie, mixed berry or key lime pie for a flavor change in our strawberry smoothie.
  • For an added touch, leave the green leaves on the reserved strawberries. Make a small cut on the side of the strawberry and slide it on the rim of the glass of your Fresh Strawberry Smoothie.
  • Flavorful fresh mint pairs nicely with strawberries. For a strawberry smoothie festive garnish, top with small fresh mint leaves. Or if mint leaves are larger, stack them, then roll up like a cigar and thinly slice crosswise.
