3/4 cup sugar
2/3 cup vegetable oil
2 teaspoons baking powder
2 teaspoons vanilla
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 eggs
2 cups Gold Medal® all-purpose flour
Additional sugar, if desired
Red and green fruit-flavored gelatins, if desired
  1. Heat oven to 400ºF. In large bowl, mix 3/4 cup sugar, the oil, baking powder, vanilla, salt and eggs with spoon. Stir in flour.
  2. Drop dough by teaspoonfuls about 2 inches apart onto ungreased cookie sheet. Press bottom of glass onto dough to grease, then dip into additional sugar; press on balls until 1/4-inch thickness. Dip bottom of glass onto a wet paper towel, then dip into dry gelatin; press onto dough. Repeat until desired color appears.
  3. Bake 8 to 10 minutes until light brown. Remove from cookie sheet to wire rack. Cool completely.

Storage
Keep cookies chewy and soft by storing them tightly covered. Resealable plastic bags, plastic food containers with tight-fitting lids and metal tins work best.

I won't be making these again. I agree with the previous poster, these were like a slightly sweet biscuit. :(

terrible. NOT ENOUGH SUGAR, cookies are not soft and chewy, rather they are hard and more like biscuits. THIS RECIPE IS A WASTE OF YOUR TIME.

I did not like these cookies at all. They did not have the right amount of sugar and had a bad after taste. I do not advise anyone to waste their time making these sorry cookies!!!

There was not enough sugar considering they are sugar cookies. They were very oily and tasted like flour. Very simple to make though just needs a few adjustments.

DISGUSTING!!!ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING!! These are the worst cookies I have ever put in my mouth. Who in their right mind would put vegetable oil in their cookies. It was purely gross. Never again will I eat these NASTY COOKIES. My husband even said they were bad and he will eat anything. Shame on Betty Crocker for putting this recipe online where everyone can view it. It should be removed!!!!!I used my last ingredients to make these cookies, YUCK!!!!

This wasn't a good recipe. There was a lack of sugar and they puffed up too much. Even with an additional 1/4 cup of sugar, they didn't taste good. They tasted like oily flour.

These were pretty good for having so few ingredients. I was so happy they didn't take much time, but still tasted great.

Good basic recipe. I use margarine or butter instead of the oil. Makes it more moist and tasty. I add extra extra sugar since i don't use the gelatin. I also use a little extra flour to make the batter a little thicker. I didn't make the recipe as is i made some changes right away since i know what i prefer. But a good basic recipe for a beginner to branch off of. Once you try it once though these are guranteed to be easy cookies. I don't even use measuring cups. Overall a good reciepe as usual you always have to adjust according to your stove and liking. :D
