When you're short on time but still want homemade cookies, make a no-nonsense no-roll sugar cookie with all the sweet flavor of traditional rolled cookies.

These cookies are fine. I was skeptical because there's no butter in the recipe. They came out fine, tasting a little bland and more like a really sweet biscuit, but aren't "gross" at all. They don't spread at all, so you can pack them in on the tray. Also, the size shown in the picture and the amount are gross misrepresentations. I made around 2.5 dozen cookies which were half that size.

I made the cookies with a few suggestions gleaned from the reviews. I added more sugar (total 1 1/2 c) and instead of 2/3 c veg oil, I had 1/3 c veg oil and 1/3 c melted butter. I think next time I will also up the salt. They are definitely good though.

I was nervous reading all the bad reviews, so I doubled the sugar. Also instead of using the entire amount of vegetable oil it recommends, I used half veg oil and half melted butter. They came out great - sweet, but not too sweet, and not oily at all. And so quick to make.

These cookies were terrible. I had doubled the recipe because they were so simple. I put 2 cookie sheets in the oven to test them. I didn't like the oily batter. I didn't like the texture of the cookie. I threw the rest of the batter away. Will not make them again.
