Directions

  • 1 Mix brown sugar, pudding mix (dry), butter, milk and cinnamon; set aside.
  • 2 Dissolve yeast in warm water in medium bowl. Stir in Bisquick mix until soft dough forms. Place dough on surface well dusted with Bisquick mix. Knead about 20 times or until smooth. Sprinkle with additional Bisquick mix (up to 1/4 cup) if dough is too sticky.
  • 3 Roll dough into 15x9-inch rectangle. Spread three-fourths of the pudding mixture over dough. Roll up tightly, beginning at 15-inch side. Pinch edge of dough into roll to seal well. Cut into 9 slices.
  • 4 Spread remaining pudding mixture evenly in ungreased square pan, 9x9x2 inches. Sprinkle pecans evenly over mixture in pan. Place slices slightly apart in pan. Cover and let rise in warm place 25 to 30 minutes or until double.
  • 5 Heat oven to 375ºF. Bake uncovered 25 to 30 minutes or until golden brown. Immediately turn pan upside down onto heatproof serving plate. Let pan remain 1 minute.

EXPERT TIPS

Expert Tips

To ensure recipe success if using a vegetable oil spread, use a spread with at least 65% vegetable oil.

For quick cleanup, completely line the pan with heavy-duty foil and just toss away any baked-on goo residue.

To cut even slices, place a piece of dental floss or heavy thread under the roll of dough. Bring ends of floss up and crisscross at top of roll, then pull in opposite directions.

Nice quick sweet treat. The main flavor comes from the carmel topping, but the bun itself was dry and lacked flavor. The topping would work well on a yeast bread and be much more satisfying.

I have been making sticky buns for years and this is the easiest and fastest I have ever tried. They dry out a little faster than regular yeast rolls, but they don''t last that long anyway. Will use again.
