“The Muir Glen Tomatoes are perfect for my favorite type of cooking -- low and slow, to build layers of intense flavor, while being quite elegant in its minimalism in this Ragu.” Says Chef Jason Stratton of Cascina Spinasse Restaurant, Seattle

i don't like this at all. The nutmeg made it worse. I prefer regular spaghetti sauce. I'm mad i spent so much time on this and have so much left.

This has good potential. Personally I thought it was kind of Bland. I did add more garlic and Italian seasonings but even then it was a one timer.

This was really good! I used sweet Italian sausage instead of pork. I plan to use this for the sauce in lasagna next time. The meat was really soft and the sauce was quite flavorful.

My husband and I liked the recipe. I felt it took too long to cook. I'll try using the crock pot next time. I'll also substitute the celery for green bell pepper. But, I think the celery is what makes this recipe unique.

Even my kids enjoyed this dish. I'm not a celery fan, so I left that out. I doubled the tomatoes and used a cabernet savignon for the wine. Instead of the extended simmering on the stove, I transferred to the crockpot and cooked on High with no lid for 4 hours. Worked perfectly.

I have made this with wine and with broth (both beef and chicken) and it is still an awesome dish. Nutmeg makes this dish but be very careful that you don't add too much...otherwise it takes over the dish. I use ground venison or beef and never add the pork to keep it lean. I have done it in a slow cooker...on low for 8 hours and turns out wonderful! Love the idea of adding zucchini!

Very very good. It makes enough for a family of five plus left overs. I followed the recipe exactly except I forgot the nutmeg at the end. It smelled SO GOOD. I used hot italian sausage for the pork. I prepared it in the evening and put it in the crockpot...then I set it up before leaving for work. It simmered all day long and smelled like heaven when I got home. I just tossed a salad and prepared garlic bread and some pasta. Everyone loved it. Next time I plan on including a cup or so of zucchini..let's get the veggies down them in disguise..its good for them and they wont complain.

There is nothing better than a sauce made from scratch, simmered, yum, yum. I love the idea of using a crock pot. How long and at what setting would you use for a slow cooker?

Saw the question of not using wine. Try a cup of beef or chicken broth - it will be great. Be sure to let us know how you like it.
